The Sleepy Socks Mismatch
One missing bedtime sock sends Remy searching until a different pair proves comfortable enough.

Read together at your own pace. Pausing, rereading, or stopping is always okay.
Remy always wore the moon socks to bed. Tonight one moon sock had vanished. Remy checked the laundry basket, beneath the chair, and inside both pajama legs. Bedtime waited while the search grew grumpier.
Mum named the problem: Remy wanted warm feet and liked the familiar moon pattern. The pattern was missing, but warmth was still possible. She offered one star sock and one striped sock with the same soft seams.
Remy tested them by walking to the door and back. They felt different to look at but comfortable to wear. The missing moon sock could be searched for in daylight.
Under the blanket, the star and stripes disappeared anyway. Remy wiggled two warm feet and decided that βnot the planβ did not always mean βnot okay.β
